The film screenings will be at the Brava Theater, 2789 24th Street at York, in San Francisco.<br><br>The film we're affiliated with is the centerpiece screening on Saturday night, <span style="font-style: italic;">Queerly Irreverent</span>. Community Convening </span><span style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">held </span><span style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">on Saturday, June 13 at 2 p.m., which kicks off a
national campaign where films spark vital dialogue to build dynamic coalitions
that bridge “Multiple Borders.”<span style="">
</span>Highlighting the Festival Focus, the Community Convening includes a
Panel Discussion and a special film screening.<span style="">
</span>The Community Convening provides a unique opportunity for public discussion
and civic engagement.<span style=""> </span></span><span style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">Breaking ground on immigration debates, the Community Convening brings
together immigrant, people of color and lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender,
queer (LGBTQ) organizations to build grassroots coalitions that will reframe
contentious national debates about immigration, an issue that affects our
diverse Bay Area communities.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

Community Convening provides a unique occasion for LGBTQ and non-LGBTQ
Community Partners to join together through the power of film to address the
pressing issue of immigration.<span style=""> </span>The
Community Convening begins the dialogue on queer women of color and immigration
with a special screening of three short films created by QWOCMAP filmmakers:<span style=""> </span><i style="">Look
Again</i> by Jennifer Lin, where a lesbian couple does a tricky dance with ICE
agents; <i style="">Bienvenida</i> by Yaya Raiz, an
exploration of immigrant queer Latinas’ lives; and QWOCMAP Executive Director
and filmmaker Madeleine Lim’s <i style="">Sambal
Belacan in San Francisco</i>, an award-winning documentary about immigrant
queer Singaporeans grappling with home and belonging.<span style=""> </span>By providing a human face to these issues,
these films will hopefully spark dialogue that attests to the personal and
political aspects of immigration.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
