Good evening Exiles Members!
We’ve missed you! Your Steering Committee has been hard at work getting
all our ducks in a row and are excited to update you on progress that has
been made. First and foremost, we finally heard back from the California
Attorney General’s Registry of Charitable Trusts and are pleased to
announce that our status has been updated and we are back in good
standing. Which means we can operate!
A deep heart-felt thank you goes out to the Leather Cultural District. They
generously paid to allow us to speak with their lawyer regarding non-profit
tax law. During this consultation, we were able to learn about the
required legal paperwork to file in order to ensure that we remain in good
standing as a current 501c3 non-profit charitable organization in the State
of California.
During this process with the California Attorney General's Registry of
Charitable Trusts, on August 1st, we extended membership dues an additional
two months, for a total of five months from when we ceased operation. As a
huge thank you for sticking with us and being patient, we will not be
charging for renewal membership dues again until November. At this time,
you will receive an email with the opportunity to opt into a recurrent
yearly payment. If you have questions regarding membership, please email
our Acting Membership Director, honeycrisp, at membership at theexiles.org.
We are also excited to announce that the Secretary of State's Business
Programs Division approved our application for a non-profit name change
(Amendment of Articles of Incorporations)! Your Steering Committee is
working hard to update all registries to reflect our corporation as The
Exiles.
Folsom is this weekend, September 23-25, and while The Exiles are not
holding an event, we encourage our members to take a moment to promote and
support the Playground at Folsom Street Fair

volunteers to help run this amazing space! Click Here to Volunteer

If you are looking for ways to connect to the greater community, we are
happy to plug the Women of Drummer Contest Weekend
<https://www.facebook.com/events/742099810286838> that takes place
September 29th - October 2nd in Ramblewood, MD. A few Exiles members are
bunking together in a cabin to enjoy the contest weekend! It’s not too late
to join!
We are ecstatic to conduct our Beer Bust fundraiser scheduled for October
16th at the SF Eagle. The Beer Bust runs from 3-7 PM PST, and needs
hyped-up volunteers to help. If you are interested in volunteering and
coming out to support our first in person official event since returning to
operations, please email us at exiles.cocos at gmail.com.
Keep your calendar open because we are jumping right back into it! November
will also be kicking off our munches and programming.
