Good News!

The voting deadline for the SF Leather Community Awards has been extended to February 17 to give everyone a chance to vote.  If you have not done so already, please take a moment to go to http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=3D9qj1an3iHZNlklQUcAJYrQ_3d_3d  and vote!

For your information, below is a letter from the SF Bay Area Leather Alliance President regarding the group and the awards.

I hope to see you at the awards dinner on March 7.  The dinner is a major fundraising event for the Alliance Emergency Fund, which is available to all Exiles members who might need temporary financial assistance in the form of a one time grant of up to $1500. Community Members;

Thank
you for helping select those to be honored at the SF Leather Community
Awards March 7, 2009 by returning the enclosed ballot.  The nominees
have been put forth by members of our community for special recognition
of their continued volunteer commitment to maintaining the viability of
SF Bay Area Leather/Motorcycle/Fetish LGBT Events and Organizations.

2009
marks the 43rd Annual Awards.  Formerly known as the ICF Motorcycle
Awards, the SF Leather Community Awards is the world's longest-running
Leather Community celebration recognizing those who create the events
and organizations that bring us together.

2009 also marks the
beginning of a new chapter in SF Leather/Motorcycle/Fetish Community
cooperation as the Inter-Club Fund of SF and the SF Leather Forum join
forces to become the SF Bay Area Leather Alliance.

With 13
Member Organizations and 7 Independent Community Directors, the SF Bay
Area Leather Alliance (SFBALA) brings together the missions of both the
ICF & Leather Forum.  From producing community events such as
Leather Alley at SF Pride, the Community Awards, & the Holiday
Dinner; creating educational materials on health & safety issues;
providing subsistence Grants to those in need; and maintaining the SF
Leather Community Calendar, SFBALA's goal is to promote growth,
viability and cooperation throughout the SF Bay Area
Leather/Motorcycle/Fetish communities.

2008 Awards WINNERS will be announced at the 2009 Leather Community
Awards on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at the SF GLBT Community Center, 6-10
PM. There will be a RAFFLE, FOOD - lots of hors d'oeuvres and sweet
things to eat; ENTERTAINMENT by Comedian TONY KOESTER and Singer B C
CLIVER; DRINKS (unhosted bar). Tickets in advance for $30 will be
available shortly through the Directors of the SFBALA and are currently
online through Frantix.net.
